Arrival day

This mountain bike highlight tour starts at the famous resort of Verbier. We will welcome you on arrival at “Le Chable train station” and take you to our bike chalet. You will be staying here for 3 nights. Make yourself at home and enjoy the surroundings.

Verbier single trails, riding through old mountain villages.

We will be exploring the trails around Verbier and get adjusted to the Alpine riding terrain. Fun trails, great views. We will put at least 1 solid climb in the day to get the legs going. This will be rewarded with possibility to sample some local cheese and of course fantastic views.

40 km, 800 m ascent

High Alpine riding, check out local cheese making high on the mountain, lunch at a mountain hut on 2500 m.

Shuttle up in the morning and starting our ride at 1700 meters. We pass a local cheese farm high on the mountain and can have a quick look. Beautiful single trail traverse above the tree line and a tough climb to the mountain hut at 2500 meters for lunch. A rewarding descent into the valley of Grand St Bernard and a fantastic ride along an ancient irrigation channel brings us to historic Sembrancher or an optional climb over another pass to finish with a descent to the chalet.

55 km, 1050 m ascent

Riding high above the Rhone Valley, through the vineyards experience a typical Swiss mode of transport with a funicular train ride and spent the night at a mountain cabin.

Today we will leave the chalet for a 4 day ride and stay in hotels and mountain huts on the way. From Verbier we start with a fun ride down on single trail and following an ancient irrigation channel “Bisse de Saxon” which is pretty challenging riding and involves a few mandatory walking sections for safety. Halfway the day we get to use a chairlift that takes us even higher above the Rhone valley and we get to see a glimpse of famous Matterhorn before we ride all the way down to the Rhone valley floor. Riding through vineyards we reach the Funicular train from Sierre to Montana. We finish the day with a climb of 390 m in 5.5 km to the mountain cabin where we will spent the night. Transport is available as an option for the those with tired legs.

61 km, 1470 m ascent, 2800 descent

Waterfalls, Pine forest flow trails and end the day in a medieval town in the vineyards.

What a way to wake high in the mountains. After breakfast we will be starting with a climb into a beautiful high valley. A spectacular descent through pine forest will lead us to the entrance of the Leukerbad valley. We have to earn the cable car ride that we will take from Leukerbad as there lies a 670 meter elevation climb in between. From the top of the cable car we have magnificent view of the leukerbad valley. We will be riding a high traverse with a panorama of all the highest peaks of the Swiss Alps. The ride to our overnight in Leuk is one that will make for big smiles and stories when we enjoy a beer in the garden of our hotel looking out over the vineyards.

41 km, 1050 m ascent, 3000 m descent

The famous Gornergrat railway, Riding under the Iconic Matterhorn, enjoy a night in Zermatt

This morning we will be driven up to Zermatt. At least until the town where we park as Zermatt itself is car free. We will ride up a single trail into town and use the Gornergrat railway to get us to the spectacular views over the glaciers. After our descent from Gornergrat we will ride all around Zermatt Valley via Zmutt glacier and a fantastic single trail all the way back to the hotel in the centre of town.

34.5 km, 1050 ascent, 2354 descent

Last glimpse of Matterhorn, famous Europaweg, single trails all the way to the Rhone valley

We can start the day with an optional helicopter uplift to Unterrothorn to ride down to a Zermatt classic trail, the Europaweg. Otherwise we take the lift up and have to do a climb to reach the trail. What a trail to start your last day of riding with. Spectacular views, challenging rock sections and flowy stretches lead us to Tascheralp for coffee. After a long descent we follow the river all the way back down to Visp. Time allowing there is an option to take a local transport lift to add even more meters of descending to this trip. From Visp we will have transport ready to take us back to the hotel in Leuk or the location of the first night.

58 km, 800 m ascent, 3523 m descent

Departure day

After breakfast and packing up the bikes it’s time to say goodbye to the mountains. We will take you to the train station for your ride back to the Airport.

Additional information

The trip will be guided by experienced guides. They have a great knowledge of the area and besides being skilled mountain bikers they are first aid trained and have great mechanical skills to do repairs on the trail. They will make sure you have the trip of a lifetime.

During the trip we will transport your luggage to each night hotel. We stay overnight in accommodations that suit the character of the journey. One night we spent in a mountain cabin with 8 persons sharing a room.

On a tour like this good food is of major importance. All meals are inclusive. Breakfast and dinner will be enjoyed at the hotel each day and we will provide you with a packed lunch each day. During the rides we will have the opportunity to enjoy a cold drink or extra meal at a mountain cabin or local restaurant.

Your bike will need to be in top condition. We recommend riding a full suspension bike with 130 / 150 mm travel and gears suitable for steeps. Recommended is the lightest gear you can find. On 2×11 set ups go for a 22 or 24 in front and a 42 on the rear cassette. When riding 1×11 or 1×12 we recommend a 28 or 30 set up in front (standard will be a 32 or 34 in front on most set ups) You will definitely need those. When in doubt “the easier the gear the better” you will not regret this.

For tires we recommend a wider tire of a minimum of 2.3 with an all-round thread. Lightweight and narrow XC tires are not suitable.

A dropper seat post is highly recommended or an easy way to lower your seat manually.

On request rental bikes can be arranged through us.
